Albino Turkey Vulture Found in Texas

You may be familiar with the legend of the great white buffalo but have you ever heard of the great white vulture?

In mid-August an injured albino turkey vulture was found in central Texas. The vulture was taken to the Raptor Rehabilitation Center at the Heard Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney, Texas. Veterinarians performed surgery on the injured bird and reported even the internal muscles and organs appeared to be paler than normal.

This bird appears to be a true albino and remains in the care of the Heard Raptor Center. It is thought to be only the 2nd known albino turkey vulture in captivity.
